Edge Animation - First Pass Animatic
This is the first pass of the animatic, basically at this stage everything is in the timeline and a rough order is in place. The next stage is to go through and refine the timings etc. Once the animatic is completed and signed off by the client I will be exporting from Premier as an XML file which I can then import into Maya 2012 to use as a basis for the 3D work. From this point on it is pre-viz then production.

John Kenn
Another cute little blog from John Kenn this time,
I have been following this blog for quite a while now and am always a little happier when this one gets updated. The Danish kids TV writer and director creates these intricate drawings on Post-It notes. Each one is filled with Northern European charm as well as a fair amount of ghosts, trolls, giants and goblins to boot. Lashings of whimsy and dark humour are present.

His little creations have always carried a hint of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are", on that subject check out the film by Spike Jonez as well as Sendak's original illustrations.

Mainland from Capri
Hi guys, just another quick update. Worked on this image yesterday. For this one I used a reference pic I took when I traveled to Italy a couple of years ago. Worked this up in Photoshop.
The title is probably misleading as the picture was taken from a boat, however it is probably Capri or another island rather than the mainland, if anyone recognises the view then feel free to correct me.
As a side note I am really enjoying this way of working, although resolving the sea was a challenge, I might have to work on some more seascapes to perfect my methods.
Thanks for dropping by,
Simon

Skyscapes
Hi guys,
went for a walk yesterday evening to get some inspiration and fresh air. for some reason I spent most of the time looking up, must have been the blue of the sky. I quickly grabbed some pics on my phone. Using these images and mostly my memory I worked up several quick paintings in Photoshop. I played with the scale of the moon in Summer Moon in order to push the concept.

In Contrail I was interested in simplicity of the white on blue and the composition formed by a single line.

Cheers for looking, Simon.
